Dr. Robert Liss Brings Innovative Glaucoma Surgery to Chester County
Technology continues to advance in the treatment of glaucoma, a condition that causes damage to your eye’s optic nerve. Glaucoma is associated with having high eye pressure caused by fluid buildup within your eye and can lead to visual loss gradually over time. Always striving to provide the latest innovation in surgical methods, Dr. Robert Liss has once again brought advanced surgical eye care to the community by being the first in Chester County to perform FDA-approved iStent® Trabecular Micro-Bypass.
Performed during cataract surgery on patients who have mild to moderate glaucoma, iStent is the world’s tiniest medical device—20,000 times smaller than the intraocular lens used to replace your cataracts. Once implanted, iStent creates a permanent opening through the fluid buildup to improve the outflow of fluid from your eye. By improving the fluid outflow, iStent can help lower the pressure within the eye. It is so small, you won’t be able to see or feel the device as it works to lower your eye pressure.
